Dennis Coleman - South Central Regional Director, Lambda Legal
Dennis Coleman is the Regional Director for the South Central Regional Office of Lambda Legal, the largest and oldest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV. He is responsible for operations and development in the region, which includes Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, New Mexico, Colorado and Nebraska.
Coleman brings over 19 years of corporate and not-for-profit sales and marketing experience to Lambda Legal. Coleman served six years on the National Board of Governors for the Human Rights Campaign, a bipartisan organization that works to advance equality based on sexual orientation and gender expression and identity. For two of those years, he co-chaired the Board of Governors, which has over 125 volunteers throughout the country charged with membership cultivation, diversity outreach and fundraising.
A community activist, Coleman served on the speaker's bureau for the Resource Center of Dallas and on the board of trustees for the Walt Whitman School, the nation's first private school for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth. He also co-chaired revenue development for the Dallas/Ft. Worth Black Tie Dinner, a non-profit organization that has distributed over $5.9 million to gay and lesbian supportive organizations through one of the largest seated premier dinner events of empowerment, education and entertainment in partnership with the community.
Native Dallasites, Coleman and his partner, Gregory Pynes, are active supporters of several lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and HIV/AIDS organizations in Texas and nationally.
