Goals:
* To educate community concerning responsibilities in the community.
* Increase awareness of HIV and other STDs and the lasting impact to the ENTIRE  African American community
* Address issues/barriers that impact the African American GLBT community (i.e. homophobia, religion, access to care)
* Mobilize African American GLBT community to become more active in seeking services and advocate for better programs aimed at population.
* Increase the support in the creation of a strong African American GBLT community
* To discuss sustainability of programs for African American GLBT community

Answer the following questions…
* How do we make programs more attractive to African American GLBT community?
* How to best advertise, recruit, and get the word out about programs?

“Discrimination in the workplace”

More and more LGBT people are coming out at work. No matter where you work or what you do, you'll feel more secure in your job if you know your rights. For more than three decades, workplace equality has been a top priority for Lambda Legal. This workshop will provide you with information you need to help guide you through your work life. The workshop will be divided into three sections. The first give an overview of federal and state laws that protect LGBT people and people with HIV from employment discrimination. The second section will answer many common questions that LGBT people and people living with HIV face in the workplace and the third section will be an overview of employment discrimination, and what you can do to protect your in the workplace and stand up for your rights

"Becoming An Activist"
This workshop will discuss the importance of the LGBT Vote and the need to be visible in 2008.  From voting in each election to lobbying your legislator to volunteering on campaigns, the LGBT citizen has several ways to change the world around him or her by becoming more involved with the political process.

"GLAAD Black LGBT community Media Essentials Training"
Kartina Parker - Media Strategist for Communities of African Descent, Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD)

The Black LGBT Community needs to be ready to place their personal stories to counteract stereotypes and homophobic press coverage. Learn how to increase visibility of Black lesbian, gay bisexual, and transgender personal stories in the media. This primer will teach media terminology, protocols, and interview techniques.

"HIV Exposed from Top to Bottom"

HIV is an issue in the African-American Community and is especially an issue among women and African-American gay population, or among men who have sex with men (MSM).  This session will address the issue of personal responsibility as we hear from those who are infected and affected by HIV.  The discussion will be one that is personal and practical.  We'll look at the thought processes that lead to both responsible and irresponsible behavior.  As this is done, each person will be able to see their behavior in others and make decisions that will allow them to be more empowered in their day to day lives.
